Nintendo's final game for the Wii U will be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nintendo was on top of the world from the success of its unique home gaming console the Wii, but when it tried to ride the coattails of success by churning out the Wii U towards the end of 2012 - the company started to falter. It was clear from the initial impressions that the Wii U would not be destined greatness and over the past four years, the console struggled to gain traction. It would only seem appropriate that Nintendo would give it a proper send off by offering one last quality title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Of course, this might not be the final title for the fast fading console since third-party developers will be able to publish games for the platform, but it will be the last created by Nintendo. It is evident that Nintendo would like to wash its hands of the sins of the Wii U and move on full force to its upcoming console, the Switch.

The Switch will arrive on March 3 and will retail for $299.99.
