Porsche Design announces its new Windows 10 detachable, the Book One

Porsche Design announced a new Windows 10 PC today at Mobile World Congress, called the Book One. It's a convertible laptop with a detachable display, making it similar in concept to Microsoft's Surface Book.

A key difference, however, is that the 13.3-inch screen is 3200x1800, making the aspect ratio 16:9. This is in contrast to the Surface Book, which has a 3:2 aspect ratio at 3000x2000. There's also mention of an option with a discrete GPU.

One problem that Porsche Design has solved is the hinge that you'll see on a Surface Book. You can see from the image below that there's no gap.

The Book One uses Intel's Core i7-7500U, meaning that it's Kaby Lake, which is an advantage over Microsoft's Skylake Surface devices. It also includes 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, two USB Type-C ports (another thing lacking from Surface), and two USB Type-A ports.

Porsche Design's new Windows 10 PC will be available in Germany in April for €2,795, and for $2,495 in the US. According to the company, it will also be available in other countries from Porsche Design Stores and specialist retailers.
