Samsung has begun rolling out the latest monthly Android security update for its unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in the United States - but there's still no sign of the Nougat update for those devices.
The arrival of those patches marks Samsung's first security update for its two unlocked flagships in the US since December, while carrier-locked models have continued to receive those updates more regularly - on T-Mobile, for example, both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge received the March security rollup last week.
Two weeks ago, Samsung said that "various circumstances" had forced it to deliver those monthly patches to unlocked handsets in the US on a quarterly basis. It added that it had "now resolved the challenges" that it faced - whatever they may have been - and promised to return to a monthly rollout cadence.
It's taken another fortnight since then for the company to finally make the latest security update available, but it's now making its way to the unlocked S7 and S7 edge in the form of firmware versions G930UUES4AQC1 and G935UUES4AQC1, respectively. However, there's still no sign of Samsung's Android 7.0 Nougat update for those handsets in the US, two and a half months after it originally released Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Even Verizon updated both devices to Android 7.0 three weeks ago.
