Android 7.1.1 Nougat heads to Sony's Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance

Almost five months have passed since Google released Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but today, that update is finally making its way to two of Sony's high-end handsets.

The update has started to roll out for the Xperia XZ, which Sony upgraded to Android 7.0 in December; and the Xperia X Performance, which was the company's first handset to get the Nougat update last year.

Both handsets are now receiving build number 41.2.A.2.199, which includes some new features as part of Android 7.1.1, such as support for app shortcuts. In addition to those OS improvements, Sony is also including the latest Android security patches, which Google released a few weeks ago.

Sony has been doing a decent job of keeping those devices up to date. It previously rolled out the March security update for the Xperia XZ and X Performance just ten days after Google made them available.
