When Samsung showed off the latest of its Galaxy handsets, it also unveiled the fact that the physical buttons had been dropped entirely, in favor of on-screen buttons. Among other things, this means that folks can rearrange them, to more closely mimic the layout on other Android phones.
One of the aspects that users have wondered about with the always on home button is the possibility of screen burn-in, which would leave a permanent imprint on the display due to uneven, cumulative use of pixels. A user even expressed his concern via a tweet to Samsung's Dutch Twitter account, which has since been removed, but was captured via screenshot by Soyacincau, as seen in the image.
The reply reveals that while the clock on the S8 and S8+ does bounce to prevent burn-in, much like it did in the S7, the software Home button fades in and out to achieve the same thing.
Not content with taking Samsung at their world, GalaxyClub.nl went on to test this claim, and has come up with this series of images:
As can be seen in the image, the Home button moves ever so slightly in order to make sure there is none of the aforementioned screen burn-in. Owners of Samsung's newest flagship devices can rest assured on this front.
