Windows 10 Creators Edition 1703 15063.250 Major Direct X issues

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Major DIrectX issue, did 2 clean installs recently, on 4/16/2016, and 4/25/2016, yet problem keeps returning, affecting Battlefield 4 and Virtual DJ Licensed DJing software,  Out of ideas what to do,  should I try the newer AMD 17.4.4 drivers, or perhaps go back to older version which one I don't know, as this problem is severly annoying and just want it fixed for good, so I can enjoy my gaming and programs.

Am Running Avast Antivirus Free latest version, system is clean I scanned it even with boot scan

Well it fixed for a while yesterday, this this morning loaded up, and happened again, Followed AMD's tech support instructions, and reinstalled 17.4.4,  I hope it doesn't happen again, so tired of removing drivers, and such, unknown if related to my 3rd party Antivirus Avast or what, or why it keeps happening

Do shutdown PC at night due to SSD drive, so don't know really what happens to cause the darn issue

Dism repair online image command doesn't work too well right now

sfc /scannow shows no intergrity issues

Finally Got it fixed, but took a while to sort it out, finally reinstalled Version 17.4.1, and so far it's been working perfectly since lol, still cautious what I install though to not mess it up again, but just glad its working now.    Since April 16th I've done 1 System Reset PC,  2 System clean installs, used so much data this month on Comcast (1tb data cap) and close to it this month, thankfully month almost over lol.

Might reboot before I shutdown PC tonight, and make sure still works, before I relax and shutdown lol.

Flew been a day lol

Something is corrupting your install, especially if its happening from one OS install to the other. There is no reason for a driver to work one minute and fail the next, forcing uninstall/install.

1.During the OS installation, are you selecting to keep apps/settings and personal files or are you selecting personal files only?

2. Is this a pre-built or a custom built PC?

3. Which AMD 200 series card do you have?

Some thoughts:

If you keep having problems, the diagnostics check out, back up your files, download your drivers from your PC manufacture's website, download the official Windows 10 Creators Update ISO from Microsoft, boot from the disc/Flash drive and install that way. Blow the existing partition away and just install new. When you get to the product key entry part, select "I don't have a key. Windows will activate once it has an internet connection.

Once you have booted to your desktop, Install Macrium Reflect Free Edition and store it on a separate HDD. Beats a full OS install everytime you run into trouble. You'll be back up in 30 min vs. all damn day. From that point, DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING EXCEPT REQUIRED DRIVERS AND YOU GAMES! Test for a few days, making sure the problem doesn't return. Install you other applications one by, continuing to test. LOSE AVAST! They had their time, but now they're just another bloated, fat pig AV. Windows 10 has its own AV and it more than enough, provided you don't click on everything you come across while on the net.

During clean install I wiped out all paritions, all was backed up onto External drive prior to doing the install, did do the installs off external drive, drivers, origin setup, and such, but figured that was fine, as I scanned it on other PC upstairs, and showed all clean, no infections or anything

Yes did that, Did all the Diagnostics, did a full clean install onto the SSD, and had secondary drive disconnected during both clean installs, and no I don't click everything and anything,  Image was made prior to installing anything else...so if any more problems I can use that to restore from if need be.     Radeon Card is R7 240,  Pre Built PC, Asus M52BC_M32BC-01,  Chkdsk ran, system file checker (no intergrity violations found, Ram diagnostic done and DISM ran, but I can run again if need be

I think I did everything properly, I don't know officially what the cause was with the newer drivers, but with 17.4.1, appears to be all fine now...

Even did an Avast boot scan, scanned with Malwarebytes,  scanned with Eset online scan

And yes gonna lose Avast first thing in morning, remove via add/remove programs, restart in safe mode, run there avast clear tool, setup Defender, and I should be totally fine

Other PC is Windows 7 Sp1 with Avast Free

R7 240 is getting long in the tooth. Are you positive you installed the correct drivers for that card off AMDs site? I just looked and they have separate sections for the models. Also verify you didn't DL a version for Win7 by accident.

Tip: I ran an r7 240 for years back when my focus was on emulators. When I re-purposed my old Phenom 2 x4 rig as a HTPC, I replaced it with a 1050Ti 4GB. I play games like Titanfall 2 and Doom on near max gfx settings @ 720p on my living room TV. Best thing I could've done besides the addition of an SSD as a Boot drive.

I hope you get your problem figured out :)

Narrowed it Down to AMD drivers, will have to decide on version to go back to, and such

https://community.amd.com/thread/215514 (Reference link there)

Battlefield 4 affected to

Virtual dj

All Games that are based on Directx 10, Directx 9, and such result in fatal direct x errors,  Fix recommend by AMD is go back to 17.3.3 Driver, after using DDU to clean out old drivers
