How to change refresh rate on non-supported resolution

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I have an nVidia GeForce 1070 and use it through my TV (Samsung UE48JU6400 4K). It allows me to select 1920x1080 @ 60fps, as well as 3840x2160 @ 60fps. However, I want to use 2556x1440 for gaming, but it only lets me select 30fps.

Is there a way to modify it to 60fps, or would it cause things to get funky?

Thanks

Why would you not connect at your native resolution?  Or am I asking a really dumb question?

1920x1080 = not as high definition when viewing games..

3840x2160 = can't get capped 60fps in games, but really high pixel quality..

So 2556x1440 would be the ideal inbetween resolution for pixel density and performance :)

And this restriction of not being able to adjust framerate... Is this within the Windows dialogue or the nVidia application?

Both :)

Back in the old days, there was an app which unlocked the 'unsupported' refresh rates on monitors which worked... but that was back in the old days lol Not sure if it the same on a TV as a monitor.

Figured it out. Used Nvidia's control panel to create a custom res - with 60hz - now I can use it fine :D
