Facebook now has two billion active users

Mark Zuckerberg took to Facebook a few hours ago to announce that as of “this morning, the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people!” It has taken the company just under five years to accrue the second billion people to its website, having passed the one billion mark in October 2012.

In a blog post, the social media giant wrote:

“Each day, more than 175 million people share a Love reaction, and on average, over 800 million people like something on Facebook. More than 1 billion people use Groups every month. To show our appreciation for the many ways people support one another on Facebook, we will share several personalized experiences over the coming days.”

Facebook is giving everyone a video with personalised stats which you'll be able to find in the News Feed or by visiting the Good Adds Up page. Your video may not be ready yet, but you can find some other cool bits of information about your Facebook activity on the Good Adds Up page.

Facebook said that this two-billion-people milestone is just a small step toward the goal of bringing the world closer together. It said the company is excited to build products which bring people closer together regardless of where they live and what language they speak.
