LG unveils the Q8, a smaller model of its V20 handset

Today, LG unveiled the Q8, a more compact version of its late-2016 flagship, the V20. As you can see from the image above, it shares a similar design, along with the secondary display.

But the 5.2-inch screen is obviously smaller than its counterpart's 5.7-inch display, with the same 1440p resolution. Naturally, the second screen is also the same resolution, at 160x1040. The battery is a bit smaller as well - which you should probably have expected from a smaller device - at 3,000mAh.

The Q8 is also IP68-certified, meaning that it can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. This is something that LG included in the G6 earlier this year, but not the V20.

Other than that, the handset includes Qualcomm's 2016 flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of on-board UFS. Like the V20, it has a dual-camera configuration, but the Q8 has one 13MP 78-degree lens and one 8MP 135-degree lens for wide-angle shots.

It's unclear how much the Q8 will cost, or even what regions it will be available in. It's currently just listed on LG's Italian website. We reviewed the V20 back in December and loved it, so a more pocket-friendly version is a welcome addition to LG's lineup.
