Microsoft's live-action Halo TV series is still happening

Way back in May 2013, Microsoft announced that it would be producing a new live-action television show around its popular game, Halo. While it's almost never mentioned by the company or the game's developer, 343 Industries, a Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed that the series is indeed still on the way.

In a statement to AR12Gaming (via Windows Central), the company said the following:

Progress on the Halo Television Series continues. We want to ensure we're doing this the right way together with a team of creative partners (Steven Spielberg and Showtime) that can help us build the best Halo series that fans expect and deserve. We have no further details to share at this time.

While Microsoft still isn't sharing any details of the show or when it will be available, it's interesting to see that it's still working with Steven Spielberg and Showtime. The last we heard about that was in 2015, and the details of the partnership with Showtime were just being ironed out.

This won't be the first live-action story that Halo has received; previously, there was Nightfall and Forward Unto Dawn. Neither were broadcast on a cable network though, so it will be interesting to see what Microsoft, Showtime, and Spielberg come up with.
