It was late last year when Google revealed its new handsets, the Pixel and PIxel XL. While the design was a little on the mundane side, its performance, especially when it came to the camera, was acclaimed. Now, nearly ten months after its reveal, the firm is offering a discount, giving those still interested a chance to pick up the devices for a reasonable amount.
It is uncertain at this point whether both prices will be permanently reduced or if this is something temporary, but if located in the United States, you can now head to the Google Store and purchase the Pixel starting at $524 and the Pixel XL starting at $569. Those looking to pick up the larger variants with 128GB of internal storage will spend an extra $100. To make things a little sweeter, you can also grab a free Google Daydream VR headset with the purchase by simply just adding it to your cart.
While a particular date has not been announced, Google has stated that a successor to the Pixel and PIxel XL will be coming later this year. If recently leaked images of the successors are to be believed, the model that is currently codenamed Taimen should give us a handset that looks modern but also manages to retain a similar style to the current offering. As for the smaller variant, that will look a bit more similar to what is being offered now, maintaining larger bezels around the display, but making more functional changes like dual speakers, better camera, and repositioning of the fingerprint sensor.
Although exciting, we will still have to wait a little while longer for the official unveiling. Google is expected to announce the handsets in the coming months.
