Hob, Runic's narrative-driven puzzler is available today on PS4 and PC

After a few teasers and a fairly long wait, Runic Games has finally unleashed its latest creation, Hob, onto the PS4 and PC. You can get a feel for it via the launch trailer below.

For those not familiar, the game is an action-adventure platformer with a Zelda-like feel, but which adds some rather interesting twists, such as the actual terrain adapting as you progress through the game. It maintains a similar cartoony art style found in Runic's Torchlight I and Torchlight II, but unlike the previous two titles, it's not an ARPG. In the words of the Seattle-based studio itself, it's a "vibrant, suspenseful adventure game set on a stunning and brutal world in disarray". Also unlike the previous titles, there's not much voice acting, with even the protagonist being mostly silent.

Hob is available for the PlayStation 4, and for PC on Steam as well as GOG. While PS4 variant is already available, the ones on PC are still up for pre-order and will unlock at 10 AM PDT, September 26. The pre-order on Steam nets you 10% off the price and a copy of the original soundtrack, while the GOG one offers a similar discount, but with a free copy of Stories: The Path of Destinies thrown in.

When asked if the game is coming to other platforms, Runic stated that there are "currently no plans to release on other platforms besides Windows PC and PS4".
