Google Pixel 2 owners reporting high-pitched noises and clicking sounds

Google Pixel 2

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL has been under the limelight for the past few days due to some issues. Not too long ago, several users reported screen burn-in issues and the company officially acknowledged the problem.

Now, Google Pixel 2 owners are also reporting high-pitched noises and clicking sounds coming from speakers of the device. The problem was first reported on the Google product forums and a handful of Google Pixel 2 owners have confirmed the issue. The problem doesn't appear to be limited to the Pixel 2, with some Pixel 2 XL users also facing the same problem.

Roy M reported the problem on Google forums and explained the issue he was having,

Pixel 2 high pitch frequency sound and clicking when the screen is on and unlocked with ear up to the device like you are on a phone call. This also happens after a reboot, safe mode, airplane mode, and factory reset. I purchased two Pixel 2 phones both have the high-frequency noise but only one has the clicking.

Unfortunately, the problem is not solved after rebooting or performing a factory reset. Some users did have some luck and managed to fix the clicking sound by turning off NFC, but the high-pitched whine still occurs.

As of writing, the company hasn't officially acknowledged this new issue. Customers can get in touch with Google Support helpline and see if they can get a replacement.
