Walmart pre-orders 15 Tesla Semis for testing

Yesterday, Tesla announced its latest vehicles, in the forms of the Semi and Roadster. While the Roadster is a more traditional consumer offering, the Semi is the company's first commercial vehicle, and by the looks of it, some big players are interested and are jumping on board.

According to CNBC, J.B. Hunt Transport Services has announced that it has reserved "multiple" Tesla Semi trucks, with the same going for national retailer Walmart, who stated that it would be testing out the vehicle, pre-ordering a total of 15.

If you weren't able to catch the live stream of the Semi's unveiling, Telsa touted some features of its vehicle, like the truck's superior acceleration when compared to a diesel truck, and how it will also be able to travel 500 miles on a single charge with a maximum legal payload at highway speeds.

The Semi will also possess an array of features that will keep the driver and others on the road far safer than existing conventional vehicles. Perhaps best of all, Tesla claims that the total operating cost of the vehicle is much lower than what it is today. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the truck is set to go into production in 2019.
