The news comes via Korean news outlet The Investor, which adds the new smartphone may now be launched in April, instead of the suspected February or March unveiling. LG G7 or next flagship phone: What's the story so far? An exact date hasn't been confirmed just yet though, with an anonymous source telling The Korea Herald that the launch date will be announced around the Lunar New Year holiday which starts on 16 February and lasts for around two weeks. The source adds that the reason for the G7 being scrapped is because "the company hasn't been able to find a strong selling point" for it. Although it should be noted this is just speculation for now. The G7 is expected to feature minor upgrades over the G6, such as slimmer bezels and facial recognition technology, so LG may now be looking for a way to make the G7 better than the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9, which is expected to be unveiled at MWC. Now they scrapped it and will start from scratch but may launch in April? How do you do that? How do you go from a handset that would be essentially complete (hardware wise) to a scrapped, start from scratch device and only lose a month or two? They should've combined the V series features into the G series, and gave it their best shot. Their most iconic phone imo was the Nexus 5. Sure, a slightly faster processor or a little better camera, but these don't really warrant a new phone. Then you get manufacturers like LG and Motorola having those stupid accessories (cameras, speakers etc) that are expensive and good only for that one phone. Good point. I suppose that would mean the scrapped it shortly after starting and if they didn't have some strong selling point, what happened in those couple of months to change that? At least from an Android point of view, I'd prefer to see them really nail the software and push for more frequent releases to keep it up to date. Then they sealed the battery up on the V30 which is disappointing. I was just playing with my Nexus 5 last night, if they released a full screen phone like the iPhone X and shaped like the N5, I'd stay a loyal customer.
