Can't get rid of app place holders on the start menu

Recommended Posts

Hello

I've clean installed Windows 10 1809 yesterday.

I wasn't online for a long time after the installation as I had to install some drivers and I wanted to prevent Windows from installing them automatically, so during that time, I saw place holders for the usual candy crush and so on my start menu.

After going online, Windows didn't install those apps as it usually does, so I removed all the place holders from the start menu.

After an hour or so, new place holders appeared on the start menu, not as tiles, but as applications. Since these are place holders, it won't let me uninstall them. Any idea on how to get rid of them?

Did you manually go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs (or whatever it is on your system) to check? Should be able to remove anything from the All Programs list.
