The team behind the Swiss-based encrypted email service, ProtonMail, has announced that it has some hardware prototypes that it needs to test out. The company has decided to allow its users to fill in a form to become Stage 1 or Stage 2 testers, with a “handful” lucky enough to get into Stage 1, being given the opportunity to visit the company, talk to a member of the team, and getting to use the hardware.
Those who get selected for Stage 2 will have the hardware prototypes sent to them, rather than them having to travel to Switzerland. The second stage will see a larger group of testers receive hardware but the number is still limited so you need to be quick to apply.
In a statement, the firm said:
“Today we invite you to join our first community usability testing for some of our new prototypes. We’re looking for anyone who loves ProtonMail and wants to try out a new product. For the first stage, testers will get to meet the team in Zurich (Switzerland) this summer. For the second stage, scheduled for later this year, testers can be located anywhere in the world; we’ll send the prototypes to you.”
Those in Stage 1 will attend a preliminary usability test that will last no longer than 50 minutes, on the same day there will be an opportunity to meet with one of the team members so that you can discuss how you use the firm’s products. Unfortunately, ProtonMail said it is unable to cover travel costs for first stage testers but will give you a voucher for credits equivalent to a one-year subscription to ProtonMail Plus.
If you can’t afford, or don’t want to travel, then you can apply for the second phase where you’ll be sent a prototype to use in your daily life and then you’ll be sent questions so that ProtonMail can gather feedback.
