No Man's Sky multiplayer update gets a trailer, new content detailed

The No Man's Sky multiplayer update has been in the works for quite a while now, with early testing of the feature seen in Atlas Rises update last year. But now, Hello Games has pulled back the curtains to give everyone a first look at the complete multiplayer implementation. The new trailer is seen above.

Following the update, players will be able to join up with friends or bump into others players who are exploring the massive procedurally generated universe themselves, giving both parties the chance to team up or battle it out. The Base building mechanic will be a shared experience, and there will also be character customization options, methods to create and share race tracks, and more.

In addition to the new multiplayer offerings, the update will also polish up the graphics related to space, NPCs, ships, and buildings, give players the option to play in the third-person perspective, and even improve planet terrain generation.

Building bases will no longer be restricted to specific spots and players will be able to own more than one of them. The developer has also added hundreds of new building parts and increased the base size limits to spice up the feature.

All this and more will be arriving with the aptly named 'NEXT' update for all platforms next week on July 24. Moreover, the new Xbox One version of No Man's Sky releases on the same day that the update is landing, meaning players on the platform will be able to jump into the multiplayer from the get-go.
