The LG V40 ThinQ could launch in early October

The LG V35 ThinQ

A new report from South Korean ETNews claims that LG will launch its next V-series flagship, presumably named LG V40 ThinQ, in early October. According to the publication, the manufacturer has reached an agreement with local carriers on when sales should start for the new device.

LG is apparently looking to avoid direct competition with Samsung's Galaxy Note9, which seems like a logical move considering that Samsung's line tends to draw much more attention. With that being said, it's not very likely that pushing the release closer to that of Apple's iPhones - which are expected later in October - will make things much better for the Korean company.

As has been the case with its other flagships for this year, the next V-series entry will include the ThinQ moniker, referring to its AI capabilities. Previous rumors have pointed to the device having a record-breaking five cameras - two on the front and three on the back - as well as facial recognition technology. The two front-facing cameras will reportedly feature 3D capabilities for that purpose, though it's unclear how that will work.

Despite failing to take the spotlight from manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple, LG has been betting hard on flagships phones this year, having already released the V30S ThinQ, V35 ThinQ, and the G7 ThinQ. It remains to be seen if this strategy of flooding the market can provide better results for the company.
