Dark Souls Remastered will finally launch for the Nintendo Switch in October

Dark Souls Remastered was announced for the Nintendo Switch alongside the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 platforms earlier this year, aiming for a May launch, but Bandai Namco delayed the Switch version to the summer a month before it was supposed to come out.

Although not exactly meeting that summer release goal, the company announced today that Switch owners will finally be able to get their hands on the demanding action RPG on October 19. And barring any more setbacks, this will mark the first time that a Dark Souls game will be available on a Nintendo console.

The Switch edition will run the game at 1080p resolution when docked and 720p resolution when in portable mode. Both formats will have the title operating at 30 frames per second.

Moreover, launching on the same day as this version will be the Solaire of Astora amiibo, which will "allow the true Warrior of the Sunlight to prove their faith by using the 'Praise the Sun' gesture from the beginning of the adventure."

For those wanting to jump in earlier, fear not, as Bandai Namco says there will be an "online network test" of Dark Souls Remastered that will let Switch players "explore Lordran" before the October launch, with more details on it arriving later.
