Google's upcoming Pixelbook could feature 4K display, 8GB RAM, and Google Assistant button

Last year, Google launched its Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, but also at the same event revealed its latest and greatest Chromebook, the Pixelbook. While we are still some months away from a Google event, it looks like new details have been discovered, that could give us clues of what to expect with the unannounced Pixelbook successor.

According to the folks at XDA Developers, there are a lot of different Chromebook devices that are being worked on at the moment, but the team there has narrowed it down to three candidates, which could become the next Pixelbook. The Chromebook, codenamed Atlas, is powered by an Intel Kaby Lake processor and 8GB RAM, and will have no SD card slot. The model also features a 4K display, backlit keyboard, and also a physical Google Assistant button.

Naturally, all of these things combined and some background knowledge on how the previous Pixelbook was set up paint a picture that this could be the next Google Pixelbook. The 4K display and RAM specifications are quite high for a standard run of the mill Chromebook, and the missing SD card slot is similar to last year's Pixelbook model. Perhaps what might seal the deal, however, is the physical button to initialize Google's own Assistant.

These bits and pieces of information aren't exactly coming from the horse's mouth, so things could change. Luckily, we won't have to wait too long to find out, as Google typically announces its hardware in the autumn months.
