As we draw closer to the release of the October 2018 Update to Windows 10, we have seen various indications that Build 17763 is likely going to be the RTM candidate for the update, and the build Microsoft will release to the masses. For one, the same build number is now on Xbox, HoloLens, and the Fast and Slow rings. Now, we also have some additional evidence to support that speculation.
ESD (electronic software delivery) images for Build 17763 have been discovered by a member of the MyDigitalLife private forum. These not only suggest that this is, indeed, most likely the RTM build, but they also give us an indication for the release date of the October 2018 Update: October 2.
The link to the products.xml page from which these images are said to be sourced from includes '20181002'. The link is, however, no longer functional.
Now, the build has already been released to the Fast and Slow rings and the next step would be the Release Preview ring, followed by any bug bashing or patches required. There's exactly a week to go from that date, so if Microsoft is indeed aiming for an October 2 release, it may be cutting things a little fine.
There's also the fact that Microsoft has an event planned for that very day. That could indicate that Microsoft will simply announce the October Update at the event and release it on the same day, though that's not how the company handled the release of the April 2018 Update. We will find out more in a week if this actually turns out to be the case.
