Rockstar Games will offer a companion app for Red Dead Redemption 2

The long-awaited sequel to Red Dead Redemption is almost upon us, with the game set to hit retail shelves this Friday. While Rockstar Games has been offering some glimpses of the game over the past few months, there is still a lot that remains unknown. Today, the firm announced that there will be an iOS and Android companion app for the game.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App will sync with your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One console and deliver real-time information as you play the game. The app will show you key stats of the protagonist Arthur Morgan, which will allow you to remove the in-game HUD from the screen, giving the game a more cinematic look. Of course, this will be an option, so if you want to keep the HUD on the screen, you're free to do so. In addition to character stats, you will also be able to dive into Morgan's journal.

With the app, players will also be able to track their stats on Rockstar's Social Club, gain access to the full manual of the game, and if you choose to, page through the optional official guidebook for the game created by Piggyback.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App will be available for download on the App Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android on October 26.
