There are plenty of third-party launcher apps for Android that allow you to keep the icons and shortcuts in the home screen of your device from being moved with accidental long presses and swipe actions. However, that option is not natively available on Google's mobile operating system.
Thankfully, Samsung seems to have begun adding that capability to its One UI for beta users on Android 9.0 Pie. According to SamMobile, Samsung Galaxy S9 users can now enable the feature called "Lock Home screen layout" by heading over to the Settings menu and then selecting Display -> Home screen section.
While that feature is still currently available to beta users, it is expected to arrive for a wider set of Samsung Galaxy users with Android Pie-compatible devices via a server-side update in the future. Its arrival on the Galaxy S9 comes after One UI beta started landing on that device for users in South Korea and the U.S. last week.
One UI was introduced earlier this month at Samsung's Developer Conference in San Francisco, California. As a replacement for Samsung Experience, the new user interface promises a cleaner and more straightforward design. It's intended to show you only the things that you want to see, among other focal points, and the addition of the latest capability is a welcome improvement.
