Samsung's Galaxy Home will be available in April

At its last Galaxy Unpacked in August, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Home, a smart speaker powered by its in-house virtual assistant, Bixby. Since then, details have been pretty scarce, with the firm not offering up anything in terms of pricing or availability.

But following the company's Galaxy Unpacked event today, CEO DJ Koh spoke to CNET and confirmed that the smart speaker is coming in April.

Using the "Hi Bixby" wake term, the smart speaker includes eight microphones for its far-field voice recognition. It's also meant to have solid audio quality, with speakers from AKG. And naturally, it hooks into Samsung's SmartThings smart home platform, so you can use it to control your lights, thermostat, and other smart home accessories.

Of course, you can also use it to play music, and Samsung has partnered with Spotify for this. Due to the company's recent partnership with Apple, putting iTunes on its TVs, it wouldn't be surprising if that shows up as an option as well.
