Instagram Checkout begins closed beta powered by PayPal

PayPal and Instagram have just announced a new partnership which will see businesses better connect with customers on Instagram. The collaboration brings Instagram Checkout, powered by PayPal, allowing customers to buy products from within the app without having to go into their web browser. It also means that they can use the same payment information time and again without re-entering it.

Instagram plans to roll out Checkout to customers in the U.S. in the coming weeks. It will give people the chance to buy from brands such as Adidas, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Balmain, Burberry, ColourPop, Dior, Huda Beauty, H&M, KKW Beauty, Kylie Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, Michael Kors, NARS, Nike, NYX Cosmetics, Oscar de la Renta, Outdoor Voices, Ouai Hair, Prada, Revolve, Uniqlo, Warby Parker, and Zara.

Instagram, in a blog post, stated that many payment methods will be accepted with Checkout including cards from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and of course you can use your PayPal account. Shoppers will also be able to check their order status, estimated delivery date, and tracking number from within Instagram. The app will also let you cancel orders, initiate a return, or request additional information.

If you operate a brand and want to sell products through Checkout it looks like you’ll have to wait for a bit. Right now, the service is in a closed beta for brands but more will be able to join in later on when the service expands. If you’d like to register your interest in signing up your business for the service, be sure to let Instagram know.
