The nubia Alpha launches worldwide on April 25, Explorer Package includes nubia Pods

At Mobile World Congress, nubia formally announced the Alpha, a hybrid of a smartwatch and a smartphone with a four-inch screen that wraps around your wrist. Now, following its launch in China, the Alpha is readying to hit the international markets, with a release happening in the United States and Europe this week on April 25.

The nubia Alpha will cost €449/$449 for the Bluetooth version, which is the only one you'll find right now. It runs its own custom OS and it's powered by the aging Snapdragon Wear 2100, rather than the newer Wear 3100, and it's available in both black and gold color options. The eSIM version will be coming to China first through China Unicom, and nubia says it's in talks with global carriers to bring it to other markets.

Nubia is also announcing that the first 50 customers to order an Alpha from its online store can get the Explorer Package, a limited edition bundle that includes the nubia Pods. These are true wireless earbuds that come in a charging case, in a similar style to that of the Samsung Galaxy Buds, for example. The nubia Pods will be included for free, so the package still costs just $449.

In our time with the nubia Alpha at MWC, we found it to be a pretty interesting device, though we can't really recommend it based on such a limited experience. If it piques your interesting, you can check it out on nubia's website.
