Amazon launches Key for Garage for Prime members

Amazon has today announced that Key for Garage is available for eligible Amazon Prime members. The new service allows Prime members to get deliveries to their garage with the Key Smart Garage Kit. In order to get deliveries to your garage simply select “In-Garage delivery” at the checkout. The firm said that its Key by Amazon app will allow customers to check the status of their garage door and remotely open and close it.

Key for Garage is just the latest effort by Amazon to make it as easy as possible for customers to receive deliveries. Amazon has previously launched Amazon Key which allows for in-house deliveries, and a service that allows for in-car deliveries.

In order to deliver this service, Amazon has teamed up with Chamberlain Group, the firm behind the myQ-connected garage door opener. In fact, if you already own the myQ-connected garage door opener, you can just connect your Amazon account to it to enroll in the service, otherwise, you’ll have to buy a Key Smart Garage Kit.

Discussing the development, Rohit Shrivastava, GM of Key by Amazon, said:

“We know it is important to keep innovating to make delivery as convenient as possible for customers, which is why we’re excited to now have Key for Garage available. Today, we are thrilled to open Key by Amazon to millions of Prime members who can now have their Amazon packages delivered securely to their garages. With this new option, members can truly unlock the convenience of the Amazon experience.”

For a limited time, the myQ Smart Garage Hub will cost just $49.99, which includes a 37.5% discount. You can also buy the product with a bundled Amazon Cloud Cam (Key Edition) for $124.99, which also includes that 37.5% discount. You can learn more about and order the product from the Amazon Key for Garage website.
