Hands-on with the OPPO Reno and Reno 10x Zoom

A couple of weeks ago, OPPO launched its Reno series in China. Today, the firm has debuted the Reno, Reno 10x Zoom, and Reno 5G for the European market. The phones will be available to purchase over the coming months, and luckily, we were able to take an advanced look at the Reno and Reno 10x Zoom.

The Reno and Reno 10X Zoom share similar designs, offering displays free of notches. In order to maintain the razor-thin bezels on the displays, the firm had to utilize clever solutions, relocating the front-facing camera into its pivot rising mechanism, which allows the camera to pop-up from the body of the phone when necessary. Some might be skeptical, but the design has been tested for 200,000 acuations, meaning that if it were engaged 100 times a day, it would equate to five years of use. If dropped, the phone will automatically retract the camera, keeping it out of harm's way.

What makes the Reno 10X Zoom more interesting than its Reno sibling is its 10x Hybrid Zoom system. This will allow users to punch in up to ten times, getting closer to the subject being photographed. This is quite a powerful feature and a mobile photographer should have plenty of fun making use of this system. As far as the release, the Reno will arrive to retail on May 10 for €499, the Reno 10x Zoom in early June for €799, and the Reno 5G in May for €899.
