Nvidia announces ray tracing support for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and more

At last year's E3, Bethesda announced Wolfenstein: Youngblood, the next installment in the famed Wolfenstein franchise. It was later revealed that the title will be launching on July 26, along with a special Deluxe edition that allows for co-op play.

Today, at Computex 2019, being held in Taipei, Nvidia took to the stage to announce support for real-time ray tracing effects in Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Other "advanced gaming technologies" will also be utilized with the launch of the title, while for a limited time, the game will be available bundled with devices equipped with the firm's GeForce RTX GPUs.

Nvidia first revealed the concept of real-time ray tracing as part of its new RTX series of GPUs, announced at Gamescom last year. Ray tracing support for the upcoming title will enable dramatic improvements in its image quality. Similarly, NVIDIA Adaptive Shading is another technology that will be included in-game, allowing for a boost in performance without degradation in image quality. For the time being, the company has only specifically remarked upon the aforementioned tech. However, it also notes that further gaming technologies will be announced as the release date of the title approaches.

Jim Kjellin, CTO at MachineGames - the developer for Wolfenstein: Youngblood -, commented on this in the announcement in the following manner:

"With Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a whole new generation of gamers could be getting their first exposure to the Wolfenstein franchise, and we want to make sure it blows them away. With NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX GPUs, we have access to technologies that deliver spectacular images and still maintain the performance necessary for flawless gameplay."

Moreover, a "Born to Hunt" bundle for the game has been kicked off for the title as well. Starting May 28, you will be able to receive a copy of Wolfenstein: Youngblood upon purchase of an eligible GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, 2080, 2070 or 2060 GPU-equipped graphics card, desktop PC or laptop. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is slated for release on July 26, for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Bethesa also confirmed in March that the PC version will be available for purchase on Steam, as well as through the company's own store. So far at Computex, Nvidia has unveiled new Quadro RTX GPUs targeted toward the mobile workstation segment, along with a number of other items.
