Bluetooth headset, paired to system, no sound coming from audio/video sources

For some odd reason my bluetooth headphones are paired to my system, but the only sound I can get from them is from the windows sound control while testing them, but I can not get sound from audio or video files. According to the device manager there is no problems with the device. Any ideas what could be going on and/or how to correct said issue? Just to be clear, i have sound through the speakers, but no sound gets to the headphones.
