Back in April, Microsoft announced that it was killing off the ebooks section of the Microsoft Store. The company sent out emails yesterday to anyone that's purchased a book, reminding that the ebooks won't be available soon.
If you purchased an ebook from the company, you'll get a refund in July, which will be applied to your original method of payment. If you used a gift card, there will be a credit applied to your Microsoft account. That credit will be good for five years.
You're also going to lose access to the books in early July, and that includes any annotations that you've made. The good news is that if you made those annotations prior to when the announcement was made in April, you'll get an additional $25 on your refund.
Microsoft also noted that you'll continue to be able to read ebooks in the Edge browser, just not the ones you've purchased from the Store. It will still support EPUB files moving forward. But once refunds have been processed, you'll no longer have access to anything that you purchased.
