In June, Microsoft and Oracle announced a cloud interoperability partnership, centered on providing customers the ability to run critical workloads on Azure and Oracle Cloud. A couple of months later, Microsoft united with Oracle and other cloud providers to reaffirm its commitment to healthcare collaboration.
Now, Oracle has unveiled that its aforementioned cloud partnership with Microsoft is being expanded, in the form of an integration between the firm's own Digital Assistant and Microsoft's Teams service. As such, enterprise customers will now be able to access Oracle Cloud Applications through a conversational AI experience in Teams.
Suhas Uliyar, Vice President of AI and Digital Assistant at Oracle, further detailed the advantages this would provide in the following manner:
"Using Oracle Digital Assistant, business users can simply and conversationally interact with business applications directly from their Microsoft Teams interface just as they would collaborate with their fellow employees or other productivity tools. Completing daily work tasks becomes much more efficient as the AI-trained conversational access doesn’t require additional employee training on different applications. This is yet another way we are enabling customers to run mission-critical enterprise workloads across Microsoft 365 and Oracle Cloud."
Upon enabling Oracle Digital Assistant through the Teams app store, users will be able to query cloud apps like CX and HCM via bot conversations. Bhrighu Sareen, General manager of the Microsoft Teams Platform, noted that this integration would deprecate the need to switch context between different applications, providing a productive and frictionless experience without leaving Teams.
Many of the skills offered from Digital Assistant are auto-configured, and in the future, out-of-the-box skills or chatbots for Oracle ERP Cloud, Oracle HCM Cloud, and Oracle CX Cloud are also planned to be made available. Companies like Honeywell and SRF Limited that utilize the assistant also reacted positively to this move, with Mark Burgess, Senior Director, HR Technology Solutions at Honeywell, stating that building upon this, their team's "vision is to have it [the Digital Assistant] become to employees what J.A.R.V.I.S. is to Iron Man."
