Microsoft rolls out new GPU driver updates to the Surface Studio lineup

Microsoft has released driver updates for both the first- and second-generation Surface Studio, specifically for the Nvidia GPUs inside them. The new updates improve the Surface Pen latency, and they're available for users on the Windows 10 April 2018 Update or newer. The updates are dated for September 17, but the support page was only updated today.

For the Surface Studio 2, the GPU driver updates are the only ones available. Here's the changelog:

Windows Update History Name Device Manager Name
NVIDIA – Display – 26.21.14.3140

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 – Display adapters

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 – Display adapters

  • 26.21.14.3140 improves Pen latency, and improves device stability with updated NVIDIA driver support.

The first-generation Surface Studio has an update for the Surface Pen settings, in addition to the same GPU driver update. Here's the changelog:

Windows Update History Name Device Manager Name
NVIDIA – Display – 26.21.14.3140

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 – Display adapters

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 – Display adapters

  • 26.21.14.3140 improves Pen latency and reliability and improves device stability with updated NVIDIA driver support.
Surface – Human Interface Device – 23.608.139.0

Surface Pen Settings – Human Interface Device

The updates should already be available for everyone running the more recent versions of Windows 10, so it might have installed automatically on your device. You can always check for updates manually if you prefer, though.
