Lenovo's Smart Clock is a fairly interesting device that brings the Google Assistant into your bedside clock. Our initial review found it to be pretty good, and Google recently addressed one of its major flaws, which was the inability to use it as a photo frame through Google Photos. Now, the device is getting even better.
Thanks to a new update rolling out starting today, the Smart Clock now has an "Impromptu" alarm mode, which means the alarm ringtone will automatically be adjusted based on the current time of the day and the weather. The feature is powered by machine learning from Google's Magenta open source project.
Aside from this new feature, there are a few other improvements in this update, like improved automatic brightness adjustment and a new music recommendation card. There are also now more options for setting the duration of an alarm, which can be as long as 60 minutes.
Finally, Google is letting users know that they can get the Smart Clock at a much lower price for the holiday season. The device is not $49.99 on Lenovo's website and other retailers, which is $30 less than it was when we first reviewed it.
