:No-Frost:
I have a Logitech G430 headset connected through USB on a Samsung Ativ-8 laptop. Since sometime, while on conference, the audio suddenly change to speaker for a few seconds and then comes back to the headset. This is really annoying and I haven't been able to find out the root cause. Any ideas?
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted December 11, 2019 Moderator Share Posted December 11, 2019 Can't you disable the speaker? In Device Manager, or maybe in sound settings?
Brandon H Supervisor Posted December 11, 2019 Supervisor Share Posted December 11, 2019 have you tried a different USB port? To me it sounds like the port may not be providing enough power so the headset drops off for a moment and reconnects causing the speaker change. on a lot of modern laptops one of the USB ports will be dedicated to a higher voltage for charging phones and such and that may be more stable for the headset. I never saw that. But, does sound plausible...

But, does sound plausible... yeah it's not clear on a lot of laptops; it's just a slight variation to the icon next to the port in most cases; usually either a power plug or battery icon next to the usb icon. edit: here's a couple images of the Dell laptop I'm on currently Left side USB ports: Right side USB port with extra power logo:
:No-Frost:
Will give both options a try. Although, this only happens when using apps like Webex, BlueJeans, Hangouts or similar... It doesn't happen when playing games or watching movies or youtube.
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted December 12, 2019 Moderator Share Posted December 12, 2019 using your mic might have caused too much power, so it disconnects.
