Google has expanded the availability of its USB-C Titan Security Key to more parts of the world. Announced last year in October, the USB-C Titan Key was so far only available in the U.S. for $40. Starting today though, Google has expanded its availability to Canada, France, Germany, Japan Austria, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK.
In total, the USB-C flavor of the security key can now be purchased through the Google Store in 10 countries. Google is also expanding the availability of the Titan Security Key bundle with USB-A/NFC and Bluetooth/USB/NFC to Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland.
Google has developed the Titan Security Key in association with Yubico. The security key is made by Yubico and features a secure element chip with firmware developed by Google for authenticating its integrity. The security key can be used for two-factor authentication and logging into services like Google, Dropbox, Facebook, Twitter, and others that support the FIDO compliance. This method ensures that even if an attacker has access to your login details, they won't be able to access your account. The security key is supported by all major platforms including Windows, Android, Linux, Chrome OS, and macOS.
In case the Titan Security Key is not available in your region, you can always buy the Yubico security key which is essentially the same as Google's Titan key. The Yubico store ships worldwide and offers its security keys with different designs and connectivity options.
