Today, Lenovo announced refreshes of its various ThinkPad lineups, including the T-series, X-series, and L-series, making it the bulk of the suite of business laptops. First of all, there's new branding. Previously, it was the letter, followed by a three-digit number where the first digit represented screen size, the second digit represented the generation, and the third digit represented a variant.
For example, last year's ThinkPad T-series included the T490, T490s, and T590. Rather than turning the 9 into a 10 for this year's generation, it's just the letter and screen size.
The T-series is the best-selling ThinkPad, and it's known as the workhorse of the lineup. In that range, we've got the T14, T14s, and T15. All of the ThinkPads being announced today are offered with Intel's Comet Lake processors with vPro options, even though Comet Lake vPro hasn't been announced yet (products with Comet Lake vPro have been being announced since CES, strangely enough). You can also have the T14 and T14s configured with AMD's Ryzen PRO 4000 processors.
The ThinkPad T14 still has the option for a 4K Dolby Vision display like it did before. All models also offer things like Wi-Fi 6 and Cat 16 gigabit LTE.
Then there's the ThinkPad X-series, which is the more premium end of things. Both the X13 and X13 Yoga are offered with Comet Lake vPro, while the X13 can come with AMD Ryzen PRO 4000 as well. What's particularly interesting about this one is that the X13 Yoga can actually be configured with a 4K OLED display; the X13 only goes up to FHD, although the 1080p models can be configured with Lenovo's Privacy Guard.
While the ThinkPad L13 and L13 Yoga were announced last year, the L14 and L15 are being added to that lineup. They can be configured with Comet Lake vPro or Ryzen PRO 4000, and they're offered with things like Wi-Fi 6 and Cat 16 LTE.
The general theme is the same across the board though, with different key strengths across the board of ThinkPads. They all get Comet Lake vPro, Wi-Fi 6, Cat 16 LTE, Privacy Guard options, and more.
All of these new ThinkPads are expected to be available in the second quarter of this year. The T14 will start at $849, the T14s will start at $1,029, and the T15 will start at $1,079. The ThinkPad X13 will start at $849, and the X13 Yoga will start at $1,099. Finally, the ThinkPad L13 will start at $679, the L13 Yoga will start at $799, the L14 will start at $649, and the L15 will start at $649.
