Samsung first introduced the Galaxy Book S back in early August as the first PC to use Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8cx chipset. The laptop was delayed, and it finally made it to market in February. It's still the first PC with a proper Snapdragon 8cx, although Microsoft's Surface Pro X uses a slightly modified version of the SoC known as the SQ1.
The Snapdragon 8cx is Qualcomm's first chipset that's built from the ground up for PCs, whereas the previous two generations were modified smartphone chips. The company promises performance that's on par with an Intel Core i5. It helps, of course, if you're using native apps such as Microsoft's Edge browser or Firefox.
As for the Galaxy Book S though, it's also the first Windows on ARM clamshell PC. Everything else that we've seen so far has either been a tablet or a convertible. This PC is only 11.8mm thin, something made possible without having to use fans, and it weighs in at just 2.18 pounds. It also comes with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD. Check out the unboxing video below:
