OnePlus 8 Pro camera samples show impressive low-light imaging performance

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau today took to Twitter to post two low-light camera samples from the OnePlus 8 Pro to show off its imaging prowess. He also posted two photos taken from a competing flagship smartphone for comparison purposes. The CEO did not mention which photo was taken from which device, though the difference is pretty stark and evident.

The camera samples include one from the primary shooter and another one from the ultra-wide-angle camera. The low-light photos from the OnePlus 8 Pro are a lot brighter, sharper, and have more details compared to the photos from the competing flagship smartphone.

While not mentioned, it is clear that the photos shot from the OnePlus 8 Pro were using the Night mode. This also means that unlike the iPhones and some other Android devices, the Night mode on the OnePlus 8 Pro will support the ultra-wide-angle shooter as well.

OnePlus is all set to announce the OnePlus 8 Pro at an online-only event next week. The detailed specs of the device have already leaked and it is slated to pack a Snapdragon 865 chip, 5G connectivity, up to 12GB RAM, and a 4,510mAh battery with 30W wireless charging. As for the camera, the device will pack a quad-camera setup which will include a primary 48MP Sony IMX689 shooter, 48MP ultra-wide angle camera using Sony's IMX586 sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens offering 3x hybrid optical zoom, and a 5MP depth sensor.
