Microsoft acknowledges Surface Earbuds sound issues

Microsoft launched the Surface Earbuds at their annual Surface event last year. Unfortunately, they got delayed and went on sale earlier this month.

However, it looks like the Surface Earbuds are still not perfect as early adopters have reported sound issues with the earbuds. According to users on Microsoft Answers Forum, the Surface Earbuds are making a hissing sound whenever audio is played through the earbuds. The sound lasts for about 2-3 seconds and does not interfere with the normal operations but it is definitely an annoying issue.

A Microsoft moderator has now acknowledged the issue and noted that the technical team will look into the problem.

It seems to be a result of a poorly calibrated amplifier but we won't know for sure until Microsoft completes its investigation. The tech giant is expected to disclose more details surrounding the problem in the coming weeks. Since the problem only affects some users, it could just be a software issue or a bug which can be patched with a software update.

Microsoft's Surface Earbuds come with a touch interface which can be used to control the music. The Earbuds also come with Office 365 integration and support Alexa, Cortana, Google Assistant and Siri. Furthermore, the Surface Earbuds support Azure Cognitive Services to transcribe user speech into captions as well as support real-time translation for 60 languages. Microsoft promises a 24-hour battery on the Surface Earbuds.
