Razer refreshes its mecha-membrane Ornata keyboard with media keys and a control wheel

It's been just shy of four years since Razer introduced the Ornata keyboard, the first of the company's offerings to use a mecha-membrane switch, bringing together the benefits of mechanical and membrane keyboards. Now, the company has introduced the Ornata V2, which builds on the original and adds a few new capabilities.

For one thing, there's only one model of the Ornata V2, and it includes RGB lighting with Razer Chroma, so you don't have the option to buy it without it. The Ornata V2 also has more of a focus on the media experience, with new play/pause, forward, and rewind keys, plus a new scroll wheel that can be used to control things such as volume and brightness more intuitively.

The new model also comes with fully programmable keys and customizable macros that can be configured through Razer Synapse 3. There are also some niceties such as a plush leatherette wrist rest and grooved on the underside of the keyboard that allow users to route the USB cable to exit from one of three positions on the back of the keyboard.

Otherwise, the Ornata V2 naturally uses Razer's own Mecha-Membrane switches and it features 1000Hz ultrapolling. It's available to buy right now for $99.99.
