Google Play Pass adds new annual subscription and expands to more markets

Google Play Pass is expanding to more markets beyond the United States beginning this week, the company announced today. Alongside the expansion, Google has added new titles and an all-new annual subscription option.

The subscription service was launched in September 2019, but only in the U.S. The expanded availability will bring Play Pass to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and the U.K.

Plus, more than 150 new titles have been added to the service. That's on top of the initial batch of more than 350 apps and games announced last year at launch. Google said it added those fresh titles over the past few months to the Play Pass catalog. Subscribers will have full access to various apps and games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Golf Peaks, Teslagrad, Forgotten Anne, and Sally’s Law. Additionally, new titles such as the newly-released The Almost Gone from Playdigious, The Gardens Between, and Kingdom Rush will premiere on the Play Pass when they launch later this year.

Finally, Google introduced a new way to pay for the subscription. At first, the service only charged customers a promotional monthly fee of $1.99, assuming they signed up for it before October 11, 2019. The regular monthly fee is $4.99. Today, the company said it will offer a new annual subscription option, which will cost $29.99 in the U.S. If you want to switch to the annual subscription, just open the Play Store app, go to the Play Pass tab, and tap “Upgrade to a yearly subscription.”
