Samsung opens pre-orders for the Galaxy Note20 series in India starting at ₹77,999

Samsung took the wraps off the Note20 series yesterday, along with other products including the Galaxy Tab S7 duo, Watch 3, Buds Live, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The firm announced that the pre-orders for the Note20 line up would begin from midnight in the U.S. with availability slated for August 21. The company has simultaneously also opened pre-orders for the flagship phablets in India.

The smaller of the two devices – the Galaxy Note20 – starts at ₹77,999.00 (approx. $1,040). There is currently only one storage variant being offered in the county, which is the 256GB one. Interestingly, the company website touts up to ₹76,340.00 (approx. $1,020) in savings via trade-in discounts. However, those massive discounts are for flagship devices from Apple, such as for the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Interestingly, Apple's top-tier iPhone discounts exceed the actual price of the device, which could be an error. Trading in the first-generation Galaxy Fold offers the highest discount from a Samsung device. The figures also exclude the additional ₹5,000 available for select exchanges. The Note20 will be available in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Green colors. The standard Note20 will be sold without 5G support for now in the country.

The flagship Note20 Ultra starts at ₹104,999.00 (approx. $1,400) for 256GB of internal storage, 12GB RAM, and 5G support. This is the only variant currently available for pre-order. The top-tier variant also comes with trade-in offers and is available for booking in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black. Interestingly, the devices are not bundled with a Buds Live – or other accessories –, with the in-box accessories including a USB-C-based AKG tuned earphones.

Customers that wish to pre-order the devices can also opt for Samsung Care+ offers for additional warranty, screen protection, or liquid damage protection for an additional cost. There are other cashback offers on purchase from select banks such as HDFC bank, which can be found on the website here. The company is also providing Samsung Shop benefits of up to ₹10,000 (approx. $133). The devices can also be pre-ordered from Flipkart and Amazon, with other e-commerce outlets such as Tata Cliq and Paytm Mall to be added later. Deliveries for the phones will start on August 25.

As a reminder, the Galaxy Note20 series sport an Exynos 990 chipset in India, and not the Snapdragon 865+ SoC that the company packs in the South Korean and U.S. markets. The Note20 Ultra packs a more premium set of features over the regular Note20, bringing improved camera prowess with a periscope camera, better S Pen latency, and a higher resolution screen, among others.
