Vivo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer that's been known for some interesting concepts such as a port-less, button-less phone, has announced that it's bringing its devices to the European market. The company announced a lineup of smartphones launching in Europe this month, headlined by the Vivo X51 5G.
The X51 5G is essentially a rebranding of the X50 Pro, which launched in India earlier this year. The biggest draw of the smartphone is the gimbal-stabilized primary camera, which promises stable video recordings and clearer pictures, as well as better long-exposure shots. The gimbal allows the camera to move to compensate for shake, and the position is adjusted with a 100Hz refresh rate, so you should always be able to get a stable shot. In addition to the primary 48MP camera, the X51 5G has a 13MP "professional portrait" camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and another 8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and 60x digital zoom.
In terms of performance, there's a Snapdragon 765G chipset at the heart of the phone, along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The battery is 4,315mAh, and it supports Vivo's FlashCharge 2.0, which can charge the phone at 33W. The display is a 6.56-inch Full HD+ panel (2376x1080) with a 90Hz refresh rate.
Vivo is also introducing some more affordable options if you're not interested in its flagship. The Vivo Y70 is powered by a Snapdragon 665 and 8GB of RAM, as well as 128GB of internal storage. The battery is smaller at 4,100mAh, but it still charges at 33W. The display is 6.44 inches diagonally, and it's a Full HD+ (2400x1080) AMOLED panel. As for the cameras, it has a 48MP primary sensor, plus a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor on the back, as well as a 16MP selfie camera.
Going lower in the range, there's the Y20s, powered by a Snapdragon 460 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. It has a large 5,000mAh battery, but only charges at 18W. The display is also not as good, with an 6.51-inch HD+ (1600x720) IPS panel. There's a 13MP main camera, along with two 2MP cameras for macro shots and depth sensing. The selfie camera is 8MP.
Finally, the Vivo Y11s rounds out the range, powered by the same chipset as the Y20s, but cutting back the RAM and storage to 3GB and 32GB, respectively. The battery is also the same size, but charges evens lower at 10W, and the display is also the same as the Y20s. The main camera is similar to the Y20s, but there are only two cameras on the back this time, and the selfie camera is also the same.
The Vivo X51 5G is already available in Germany in locations such as MediaMarkt, and coming to the UK on October 29, with other markets also getting the device in the coming days. It costs €799, or £749 in the UK. The Vivo Y70 has the same release date, and it costs €299/£279. The Y20s may arrive later in some markets, and it costs €199/£149, while the Y11s is coming even later for €149, with no UK price announced yet. Vivo will also be selling the Vivo TWS true wireless earbuds for €129/£129, and the Wireless Sport Earphone for €69.99/£69.
