Acer announces the Porsche Design Acer Book RS

Today at its next@acer event, Acer announced a new partnership with Porsche Design. There haven't been too many PCs with the Porsche Design name on it, although the company was probably the only one to borrow the Surface Book's form factor. But the latest Porsche Design laptop and the first to come out of this new partnership is the Porsche Design Acer Book RS.

As you'd expect, the Acer Book RS has the latest specs, including an 11th-generation Intel Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GeForce MX350 GPU, and it weighs in at just 2.65 pounds. The lid is made out of carbon fiber "for its lightweight strength and extreme performance".

Aside from the 3k carbon fiber lid, it has a diamond-cut CNC-machined chassis, which comes in at 15.99mm thin. The unibody hinge elevates the laptop when you open it, allowing for better ventillation; according to Acer and Porsche Design, every aspect of this device served a purpose. Also improving the cooling is the dual copper heat pipes, because a cooler PC performs better and lasts longer.

The 14-inch FHD screen has narrow bezels, giving it a 90% screen-to-body ratio. And with Intel's 11th-generation processors, it comes with perks like Thunderbolt 4 and more.

"With more than 40 years of experience in the industry, Acer’s proven track record of excellence matches our commitment to delivering outstanding products with our partners. We are delighted to kick-off this partnership with the new Porsche Design Acer Book RS that embodies the DNA of our brand to the core and sets new standards in performance and design," says Jan Becker, CEO of Porsche Design Group.

The Porsche Design Acer Book RS is coming to North America for $1,399.99, the Acer Mouse RS will be $109.99, and the Acer Travelpack RS will be $329.99. You can also get the 'premium package', which is the whole set and presumably a higher-end SKU of the laptop, for $1,999.99.
