TikTok has announced that it's launching its new TikTok TV app for Google and Android TVs today. It said that the app was developed with home-viewing in mind with all of us spending more time at home due to local coronavirus lockdowns and restrictions.
Initially, the app will launch on devices in the UK, France and Germany. Using TikTok TV, users will be able to view the most liked and viewed content on TikTok as well as popular content across other categories.
Commenting on the new experience, TikTok UK’s General Manager Rich Waterworth said:
“We're excited to bring the creativity and joy of TikTok to Google TV and other Android TV OS devices across Europe. The TikTok on TV experience will be a new way for people to come together and enjoy videos from some of our most popular content categories on the big screen. Whether it's learning a new skill or just having some fun together watching what you love, now more than ever, I feel this is a brilliant way for people to be able to enjoy their favourite TikTok content together at home.”
To start using the new TV app, you’ll need to open up the Google Play Store on the device you want to use and do a search for ‘TikTok’. Once you’ve found it, install the app and then open it. You can either log in to the app or simply press ‘watch now’ and begin viewing the content in guest mode.
