Twitter is holding its Virtual Analyst Day event today, and while most of the news coming out of the event are targeted at advertisers, there are some features that stand out for regular users, including the new Super Follows and Communities (via 9to5Mac).

Super Follows are inspired by platforms like Patreon, meaning users can start charging a monthly fee to give followers access to exclusive content. As seen above, this can include exclusive tweets and fleets, newsletters, access to a dedicated community, and so on. Super Follows will apparently cost $4.99 per month.

In addition to Super Follows, Twitter also announced Communities, which are somewhat similar to Facebook groups. Communities can be created for certain topics, and users can join new communities that fit their interests. This then allows them to post content to specific communities, expanding their reach beyond just their own followers.

Twitter also talked about a couple of other features, like a Safety Mode, as spotted by The Verge. This will allows users to shield themselves from negative attention by automatically blocking users that potentially break Twitter rules and muting users using harmful language. It's not clear yet when these features are expected to be rolled out.
