Annoying bar in Windows 10 Settings. How to get rid of it?

Recommended Posts

Today I had reset my PC.

I found out that in settings now is a top bar. With different settings, my MS account. But also the "promotion" of Microsoft's Edge as default browser. Why? I would like to get rid of this bar... I didn't had it on my previous Win 10 Pro installation.

How can I do this? Some registry setting, a Windows Update that I don't know of, or have not installed yet? Or maybe something else?

I don't think it can be disabled unfortunately. At least I haven't found/heard of a way.

They've been slowly rolling it out to users over the last year or so.

I just came across this article: https://www.intowindows.com/how-to-disable-windows-10-settings-header-banner/

But... can this Mach2 utility be trusted?

Also, it's mentioned here https://techdows.com/2020/10/settings-header-in-windows-10.html that "As of now, there is no way to disable this. Microsoft warned not to use third-party tools to enable or disable the new Settings UI when the feature was introduced."

But... if I were Microsoft I'd say the same
