W10 - HyperV and NAS

Question

Hi.

I plan to use the virtual machine environment to test a few things and decided that Microsoft with Hyper-V could be a good start for me (what do you think?).

My system : 9900k + 16GBRAM + SSD 500GB + NAS 2TB

1. My goal is to use the NAS to store everything related to the virtual machine if possible. what do you think?

2. Is Hyper-V a good solution compared to others? Especially for new users.

Thanks a lot!

It depends on how you answer the following:

Will the OS be from Microsoft?

Do you have Pro or higher?

Yes. Windows 10 Professional 64bit 20H2

Then yeah, its a great choice in terms of a Hypervisor.

Nice.. what about NAS used as a storage..

Eh....I dunno....its not a great idea IMO because that machine will be running at any time you need it, and you can simply just have a shared directory/drive at that point accomplishing the same thing.

But if you really wanted to go down that route, you could use the VM to manage it, and have all data saved on a separate drive. It would work fine.

Since the NAS has an HDD.. rewriting data a lot on it is not a problem.

The main system has the SSD.

I don't think I've understood completely what you mean.. with all data I mean the O.S and any software installed in the VM.
